Tomorrow, Tuesday, July 27th at 2 PM at City Council Chambers the City of Glendale will host a public meeting on its proposed water rate increase. You can view the meeting in several ways:

- Cox cable TV Channel 11
- In person at City Council Chambers
- On the city’s website 24/7
I have posted a poll to the left of this column. It asks do you support or oppose the proposed water rate increase? On Wednesday, July 28th I will repose the poll after you have had an opportunity to view the public meeting.

A water and sewer increase took effect January1 2021. I completely disapprove of this fee increase. It’s not the existing residents problem that there are so many residential builds apartments and condos etc going on. Charge them for.the infrastructure to bring the services to their property. Glendale has the highest tax rate now it will be water and sewer and possibly our property taxes. This is ridiculous. Glendale used to be a great place but it’s becoming a very expensive place
Charyl, each new apartment or condo complex must pay for their own infrastructure to provide water and sewer. In addition, they also pay a Dif fee, development impact fee. This fee covers the cost of new infrastructure to service the development. I do not like the idea of raising rates again. I continue to have ongoing discussion with staff about the reasons for the rate increase and how to mitigate the rate increase.
