Here are the latest vote totals ( 5 pm, Sept. 1, 2016) for the two contested Glendale races. I suspect this is the final count. There could be a few more straggling votes to be counted but I don’t believe it will alter the outcome: A victory for me and a victory for Mayor Weiers:
GLENDALE COUNCILMEMBER – YUCCA DIST | 100%(10/10)precincts reporting | Vote for 1 | EV VOTES | TOTAL VOTES | % VOTES |
CHAVIRA, SAMUEL | 1190 | 1426 | 49.41 | ||

CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!
You made it. Close race…Congrats…..I,m sure you will do a good for the people of Glendale.
It is beyond comprehension how the opposition got so many votes. I didn’t realize that Glendale was populated with so many mentally challanged.
Greetings Folks:
Congratulations to the successful Candidates. Now it is time for the residents of Glendale to become involved with the latest episode of poor government in action. The current City Council has directed city staff to investigate the changing of Zoning Ordinances to allow the keeping/raising of chickens on ALL residential properties. The current ordinances are only applicable to A-1, RR-90, RR-45, SR-30, SR-17 & SR-12 properties. (Larger sized properties.) The proposed Zoning Text Amendment ZTA 16-02 would extend the application to properties ranging in size from 10,000 square feet to as small as 4,000 square feet. (RI-10 thru RI-4) City Staff has indicated this change would not effect HOA’s. You have to be a little careful here folks, as each HOA may not contain the appropriate language in their C,C & R’s to address this proposed change.
Whether you support this effort or oppose it, community members should be aware that you could have your neighbor raising chickens next door and you could be helpless to correct/modify this situation. You are encouraged to attend the scheduled public meetings and let your voice be heard. The current regulations seem to be appropriate and working.If the system is not broken, why is it necessary to fix it?? It is my understanding the next public meeting is scheduled for October 24, 2016. Check the Planning Department web site for further information.
Respectfully,
Jack Martino
